In conference
Four Dairy UP PhD students presented their work at the 20th Australasian Dairy Science Symposium in Christchurch in November, thanks to support from the University of Sydney Postgraduate Research scheme.
From left to right in the photo, Rezaul Rakib, discussed his work on the potential application of the heat shock protein HSP70 as indicator of heat tolerance (Dairy UP project P9). Alice Shirley is also working on heat tolerance and presented data from rumen sensors, showing big differences in tolerance among individual animals (Dairy UP project P6). Blessing Azubike is working across Dairy UP projects P1 and P6 to basically ‘feed cows through AI’, using machine learning and optimisation modelling; and Sarah Legge, who obtained her PhD this year, spoke on the “Lasting impact of calf performance’.
Congratulations to all!
